This game was made during the Chicago Unity Developer Group Game Jam. This is a Booster Pack Opening Simulator game made in Unity. The theme of this game jam was Show Me the Money. From that theme, I was inspired by trading card games and how the cards that people pulling from booster packs are able to have a lot of value. So, the idea of the game was to simulate someone who wants to make money off of opening booster packs and finding rare cards to sell for a lot of money. The goal is to accumulate a certain amount of money in a limited time frame to win the game.
For this game, the player is able to open packs of 10 cards, which go into their collection, and sell all of the cards they pulled. So, I focused on making the card generation and the collection systems. For the card generation, it was mostly a basic randomization system. When it came to the different rarities that the player can collect, There are 5 basic card rarities that the player can collect: Common, Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, and God Rare. But also, I decided to add a special rarity called FluX Rare, which can have a price between a specific range. This is to simulate how cards of the same rarity can have different prices, based on the physical condition of the card and the type of card itself. For the collection system, I made it so that cards of the same rarity are bunched up and show the number of cards you collected for that rarity. This does not apply to FluX Rare cards because most of them will have different prices.
